Post-Free Agency Mock Draft: Trades Galore, 4 QBs in Top 4!
If there is one team bold enough to still take Jalen Carter this high after the racing incident, it would be the Seahawks. Carter is still the best defensive talent in the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Seahawks know that—he would immediately solve the Seahawks’ less-than-ideal interior d-line. Hopefully, Carter has learned from his past mistakes and is ready to mature and make amends.
While I’m not as high on Tyree Wilson as everyone else, the Cardinals will likely believe he is their future premier pass rusher. I can see Jonathan Gannon using him similarly to how he used Haason Reddick in Philly. Wilson certainly has the potential to be the best edge rusher in this talented draft class. A building block at No. 6 in this mock draft.
After missing out on all the top quarterbacks, the Raiders stick with Jimmy Garoppolo and draft another position of need. Devon Witherspoon is the most talented cornerback in this draft class. He should be able to lock down the league’s top receivers. And who knows, the Raiders may not be done at quarterback yet *wink* *wink*.
The Falcons should be licking their chops if Will Anderson Jr falls this far. Atlanta needs a lot of help on defense, especially when it comes to pressuring the quarterback. Luckily for them, Anderson checks elite edge rusher off the list. Jessie Bates lll was a great start to improving the Atlanta defense, but if it doesn’t step up soon, we could see a new coach come February.
Ryan Poles has not held back in NFL free agency. Addressing the Bears many holes with all that great cap space. One position he hasn’t yet addressed and has been adamant about addressing since taking the job is offensive tackle. Skoronski is an Illinois native who should do a great job protecting Justin Fields for a long time.
Even with the return of Darius Slay and James Bradberry IV, I still see the Eagles taking a cornerback here. Slay and Bradberry are not long-term solutions at the position for Philly. Gonzalez is that and a bit more. The Eagles have proven to be patient with their top picks and don’t mind if they don’t see too much of the playing field their first year. They play the long game to wrap up the top ten of the mock draft.
