After making a big trade for cornerback Stephon Gilmore, the focus shifts to the offensive side of the ball in this Cowboys mock draft. Dallas adds multiple instant impact contributors via the 2023 NFL Draft.

While the Dallas Cowboys got off to a very slow start during the “legal tampering” period of NFL free agency, the team made a big trade, moving a fifth-round pick to the Indianapolis Colts for veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

With Gilmore filling the team’s big need for an outside corner — a position that was a popular target for the Cowboys in the first round of many mock drafts — the team can now shift its focus to the offensive side of the ball.

Whether it is a top running back to potentially replace Ezekiel Elliott and/or Tony Pollard, a tight end to fill the shoes of free agent Dalton Schultz or a wide receiver to be a running mate for CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys should look to strengthen their offense early on in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Cowboys Mock Draft: Offensive Weapons After Gilmore Trade

Round 1, Pick 26: Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College

With their first selection of this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys go with a dynamic receiver from Boston College, Zay Flowers. The Cowboys need to find a legitimate complement for their star receiver, CeeDee Lamb, and Flowers is a near-perfect option.

Despite being just 5-foot-9 and 182 pounds, Flowers is about as dynamic as they come. He has blinding speed to take the top off of the defense and is a very aggressive and competitive player that fights for every ball and every yard. He is able to slip by press coverage and can cut on a dime at any level of the field to get open. He has impressive body control, tracks the ball well down the field, and makes the most difficult of passes look effortless.

Flowers tested well at the Combine, backing up what you see on tape and boosting his draft stock into the first round. The Cowboys can really use this type of athleticism on their offense. Lamb is an explosive playmaker and a player like Flowers could take this Dallas offense to the next level. Dak Prescott would love to have a shifty and speedy playmaker with Flowers manning the slot (or split out wide) for years to come.
