Vikings 7-Round Mock Draft: Justin Jefferson Gets a Friend
In this universe, we will pretend Dalvin Tomlinson leaves in free agency. If that doom does besiege the Vikings, they are in desperate trouble. I like Khyiris Tonga just as much as the next guy, but he alone will not get it done. Brian Flores will want his nose tackle to be a through-and-through run stuffer, which Moro Ojomo is.
Ojomo has some of the most violent hand use in this draft, and his wingspan is outrageous. However, he needs to add more consistency to his game to reach the next level. Depending on what happens in free agency, he could have the opportunity to be a fifth-round starter from day one.
Cam Jones is one of my favorite mid-to-late-round players in this mock draft. He explodes through the gaps and plugs holes like no one’s business.
One of the many criticisms of the defense last season was the lack of blitz packages called by Ed Donatell. Brian Flores is the exact opposite, as he loves nothing more than to get pressure on the quarterback. While Jones struggles blitzing from the outside, he is too explosive for your average guard to handle, even on the pro level.
This is another fifth-round pick that could be an early starter for the Vikings. Eric Kendricks and Jordan Hicks are cut/trade candidates for this off-season. A Cam Jones/Brian Asamoah linebacker duo would be a cheap way for the Vikings to fill the position.
