Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. G. USC. Andrew Vorhees. 87. player. 60

In all reality, Kirk Cousins will be the quarterback in Minnesota next season. Captain Kirk is a pocket passer; if you give him a clean pocket, he plays like the next coming of Tom Brady. Most of the pressure Cousins faced in 2022 was from the interior of the offensive line, which is what Vorhees can undoubtedly help with.

My only hesitation with this selection is the Vikings second-round pick from last year, Ed Ingram. Ingram was consistently getting pushed into the backfield by bigger defenders. He was the clear weak point on the Viking line. Will Kwesi want to give up on that high of a pick so early?

Even if he doesn’t, Vorhees provides the Vikings with depth at a crucial position and a potential Ezra Cleveland replacement, as he only has one year left on his rookie deal.

Scouting Report. Michigan. DJ Turner. player. 60. Pick Analysis. CB. 118

Finally, Brian Flores adds a piece to his new defense. Flores has been known to run a heavy-man defense; DJ Turner fits right into that mold. Turner forced a QB rating of 65.5 last season, which is impressive as the Big Ten is no joke.

Turner would join a crowded cornerback room with Cam Dantzler, Andrew Booth Jr., and Akayleb Evans, so he wouldn’t be asked to do a lot immediately. Instead, he will have time to learn the speed of the NFL game and develop some pieces of his game that need to be improved.

I would be surprised to see DJ Turner at 118. With his speed and athleticism, Turner should turn some heads and shoot up boards at the combine. But if he falls to the fourth round, and lands with the Vikings, he could develop into one of the most significant draft steals under the tutelage of Brian Flores and Mike Pettine.
