NFL Mock Draft: Bears Make Bold Move, Packers Finally Land First-Round WR
Titans sure up the offensive line with a perfect offensive tackle to take over for the recently released Taylor Lewan. Johnson Jr. has the size and strength you dream of from your premier pass protector. In his first season at left tackle, he only allowed 14 pressures on 449 pass-blocking snaps.
One of the biggest steals of the mock draft. At 6-foot-6 and 275 pounds, Wilson will have a length advantage over almost every tackle he faces. In addition, he can be played inside or outside, which is unique versatility. As a result, DeMeco Ryans can utilize him in any way he sees fit, which every defensive-minded head coach loves to hear.
Since Jamal Adams was traded away, the Jets have desperately needed an elite safety, and they get it at No. 13 in this mock draft. When I lay in bed at night imagining a perfect NFL safety, it is everything Brian Branch is. He may be the best tackling defensive back I’ve ever seen from college, and I do not say that lightly.
Mac Jones needs help in more ways than one. Quentin Johnston is a good start. Johnston is everything Bill Belichick wanted N’Keal Harry to be and more. At 6-foot-4, Johnston averaged 18.8 yards per reception, which is ridiculous. He will not be fun for NFL secondary’s to deal with.
After Green Bay misses out on Johnston, Seattle gets the opportunity to add Geno Smiths’ eventual replacement. While we all love what Geno did this season, it’s time for the Seahawks to think about the future. If you have yet to see Richardson’s highlight tape do that immediately after you are done reading this. Richardson could be a superstar with a year of learning as Geno’s backup (If they resign him). I would be genuinely surprised if Richardson drops anywhere past the top 15.
Gonzalez had a breakout season after his transfer to Oregon. He has all the measurables you could hope for in a cornerback and should have an immediate impact. With a good NFL Combine performance, Gonzalez could be the first taken at the position.
The Steelers desperately need help on the offensive line. Harrison is a quick-footed 6-foot-5, 315-pound monster who has played left tackle since his freshman year. Kenny Pickett should be able to breathe a sigh of relief, as Harrison only allowed nine pressures on 447 pass-blocking snap.
The Lions’ secondary consistently got torched this season. Ringo is a massive 6-foot-2, 210-pound corner. He fits perfectly into Dan Campbell’s press-heavy system. While he did allow 552 yards this season, his upside is too high.
It’s Kyle Trask SZN in Tampa Bay. While getting Trask a new toy is tempting, Trenton Simpson makes more sense. Lavonte David is only getting older, and his contract is expiring. Simpson is a rangy linebacker that should play well with Devin White.
