NFL Mock Draft: Bears Make Bold Move, Packers Finally Land First-Round WR
The Colts get a new QB — and it is not Derek Carr. Hopefully, Indy has finally learned its lesson about singing free-agent QBs. While Levis didn’t have the best senior year, he had to battle the vicious SEC while dealing with turf toe. Nevertheless, Levis has the size and talent to be worthy of a top pick.
The Seahawks get a 300-pound stud. Pete Carroll loves his blue-chip players, and Carter fits right in. Carter should have an impact immediately and quickly give the Seahawks’ defense a much-needed run-stuffer.
The first big surprise of the draft. I like Bryan Bresee a lot. Despite being 300 pounds, Bresee is quick and versatile, which should play perfectly with Aidan Hutchinson. Those two would be a force to be reckoned with for a long time. Sorry NFC North QBs.
Witherspoon is the clear-cut best corner in this mock draft, and the Raiders need him. Witherspoon was targeted 63 times, allowing 22 catches for 206 yards. That’s only 3.3 yards per target. He also has a feistiness you love to see from your lockdown CB.
Justin Fields is the new Atlanta QB; he should fit perfectly into Arthur Smith’s system. Since taking the Bears GM job, Ryan Poles has stressed protecting the QB. Skoronski only allowed six pressures on 474 drop-backs. If that isn’t protecting the QB, I don’t know what is. Bryce Young and the Bears add a steady hand on the blindside.
After missing out on a top-tier QB, the Panthers pivot and land a top-tier edge rusher instead. Murphy must get better at rushing the passer to take the next step. He is just too much of a freakish athlete to pass up here.
Van Ness fits perfectly with everything the Eagles try to do. Van Ness has elite power, and with some mentorship from Haason Reddick, the two could be a menacing duo on a defense that collected the most sacks in the NFL this past season.
