In the past few years, quarterback moves have highlighted the offseason transactions in the NFL, headlined by the Rams trading for Matthew Stafford and the Buccaneers signing Tom Brady, both of which ended with a Super Bowl win for each quarterback with their new team.

The 2023 offseason appears to be no different, as multiple teams are looking to either draft their franchise quarterback or sign or trade for an MVP-caliber quarterback who can take their team to the promise land.

With quarterbacks expected to fly off the board early in the draft and veterans mocked to go to new teams, here is an official prediction for each team’s starting quarterback for the 2023 season.

NFC North

Chicago Bears: Justin Fields

Despite a lack of overall team success in 2022, Justin Fields was a bright-spot for the rebuilding Chicago Bears. Fields finished his sophomore season just 63 yards short of Lamar Jackson’s single season rushing record for a quarterback, and with the first overall pick and the most available cap space to spend in free agency, Chicago will look to surround Fields with a more complete roster in 2023.

Detroit Lions: Jared Goff

Jared Goff played great football for the Detroit Lions in 2022, and it only gets better when looking at the two first round picks that came with the former Rams quarterback. Last season, Goff had perhaps his best as a pro, as he finished the season in the top six in both passing yards and touchdowns, and showed the poise and arm talent that is reflective in a former number one overall pick.

Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love

With Aaron Rodgers likely on his way out, the Green Bay Packers seems confident in Jordan Love as his successor. A first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Love has had the opportunity to sit behind Rodgers for three seasons, two of which were MVP seasons. Love will likely need more help, especially on the perimeter, to be successful on the field, but Green Bay hopes to once again successfully replace an MVP-caliber quarterback.

Minnesota Vikings: Kirk Cousins

Despite going 13-4 in 2022, the Minnesota Vikings are clearly a flawed team, but a change at quarterback likely won’t be the avenue this team takes to improve their roster. In his first season with head coach Kevin O’Connell, Kirk Cousins finished in the top five in passing yards and touchdowns, and with a cap hit of over $36 million in 2023, Cousins will at least play out the final season of his contract with Minnesota.
