Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went out with a whimper vs. the Dallas Cowboys. Brady finally started looking old, and the roster began doing the same. What is next for the two sides?

Tom Brady left the only franchise he ever knew during the 2020 offseason. Amid a pandemic, Brady and his new teammates in Tampa Bay were subject to a limited workout and practice regimen. Still, the GOAT came in and led the franchise to a Super Bowl victory in year one.

In 2021, Brady came close to knocking off the eventual Super Bowl champions in the divisional round. The Los Angeles Rams squeezed out a three-point victory, ending the Bucs’ repeat efforts. In 2022, Tampa limped through the regular season before getting shellacked by the Dallas Cowboys in the wildcard round.

The pairing seems to have run its course, with Brady oftentimes looking dejected this season. It is hard to blame him. A 45-year-old signal-caller cannot take the number of hits Brady constantly took in 2022.

Three Teams That Make Sense for Tom Brady & Three That Don’t

The Bucs desperately need Brady to retire to avoid dead cap penalties for the next couple of seasons. If Brady opts to play in 2023, he is an unrestricted free agent who can pick any team he wants. Regardless, Tampa would still be on the hook for a large chunk of dead cap either way.

The way Brady played down the stretch shows that there is still some gas left in the tank. However, it also showed there is only another trip or two left. Wherever Brady ends up, he will be tasked with winning a ring in year one again.

Which teams can sign Tom Brady and put an actual contender around him? Which ones should avoid him altogether?
