The Seattle Seahawks travel to the Bay Area on Saturday in a wild-card matchup vs. the divisional rival San Francisco 49ers. Even with such success in 2022, Seattle finds itself with an embarrassment of riches in the 2023 NFL Draft. Before we see them this weekend, let’s have fun with a mock draft while waiting.

The 2022 NFL Draft class for John Schneider and Co. will go down as one of the best in franchise history. Two starting offensive tackles (Charles Cross, Abraham Lucas), two starting cornerbacks (Tariq Woolen, Coby Bryant), and a superstar running back (Kenneth Walker) all in one offseason is absurd.

Second-round edge rusher, Boye Mafe, has improved exponentially since the beginning of the season. His three sacks don’t jump off the screen, but with a full offseason of development under the veteran coaching staff, the sky is the limit with the former Gophers’ ceiling.

Geno Smith is the elephant in the room and will continue to be until the team decides on his future. In all likelihood, a short-term pact makes sense for both sides. The Seahawks get a bridge starter for at least one season, giving them the option to take a quarterback this draft or next.

Smith would remain as the one steering the ship of a playoff roster. Perhaps an offseason knowing he is the starter could take Smith’s play to another level. The veteran journeyman performed admirably to open the campaign, but his play noticeably declined as the year dragged on.

Pete Carroll may not have many years left as head coach. That thought won’t force the Seahawks to become desperate, but it is worth mentioning. They have established a strong foundation; the 2023 NFL Draft class should be enough to put the team on top of the NFC West if it can match the 2022 group.

Those are lofty expectations, but with three picks inside the top 38, the possibility of repeat success exists. In this mock draft, we build a new Legion of Boom. Here we go!
