Round 6, 198th Overall: Tyler Nubin, S, Minnesota

As we move into this world of two-high, quarters, and variations of that coverage, safety play becomes more important with more responsibilities. Jalen Pitre has been impressive this season making plays on the back end and in the box, but getting a running mate for Pitre should be on the list this offseason.

Tyler Nubin has great size for the safety position, and has 55 tackles on the year, most of which have been at or near the line of scrimmage. He’s instinctive in coverage too, as Nubin has four interceptions and three pass breakups on the year.

Round 6, 202nd Overall: Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan State

The WR room, in this scenario, now has Rashee Rice, Nico Collins, and hopefully a healthy John Metchie. That’s plenty of size and separation skills. But, they lack the burner to win downfield. Jayden Reed has been the big play threat at Michigan State, and his speed could space the field out more for the offense. He tracks the ball well and plays bigger than his size at the catch point.

Round 7, 218th Overall: P.J. Mustipher, DL, Penn State

The Houston Texans continue to build up the front seven here in the seventh round. P.J. Mustipher is another big, powerful presence in the middle of the defense. He isn’t an elite pass rusher from the interior, but early down gap control is a good role to fill.

Round 7, 233rd Overall: Travis Dye, RB, USC

Dameon Pierce is lighting up the league as a rookie, but there’s no hurt in building up a bit of running back depth. Travis Dye is a good receiving back with impressive short area burst and toughness to spell Pierce whenever he needs a rest.
