The Houston Texans add a potential franchise QB in Will Levis and build the roster with a load of picks in this 7-round mock draft.

The Houston Texans are beginning a rebuild, that’s no secret. After trading Deshaun Watson, the Texans are rich with draft picks, especially first round picks in the next few years. Houston is getting impressive results already from their 2022 rookie class.

Derek Stingley is having the usual struggles of a rookie corner, but the flashes are excellent. Kenyon Green looks like a guard that will be around for a long time. Jalen Pitre is all over the field as a safety. Dameon Pierce quickly grabbed the RB1 role, and he won’t be giving it up anytime soon.

Houston Texans Seven Round 2023 NFL Mock Draft

Right now, the Houston Texans have two picks in the top five, thanks to the Cleveland Browns. As much as Davis Mills has showed some promise, he isn’t the franchise-changing player at the quarterback position. If the Texans believe someone in the 2023 class is, they shouldn’t hesitate.

Let’s look at an updated Houston Texans mock draft as they strengthen their grip on the top overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and have plenty of selections on the first two days.

Round 1, 1st Overall: Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

It’s going to be a great question for the Houston Texans over the next several months. Which quarterback do you select with the top overall selection? Should it be Bryce Young? C.J. Stroud? A wild card in Will Levis?

Here, we’ll roll with the player who’s gaining momentum as the consensus QB1 in the 2023 NFL Draft. Young would be an elite prospect if not for the size outlier. He will be the highest drafted prospect at sub-200 pounds since Jim McMahon. Despite the size concerns, Young operates an offense at a high level.

Whether it be setting protections, making changes pre-snap, and operating the quick passing game, Young has a very high football IQ and a penchant for making reads pre-snap and post-snap. He throws with anticipation, has a sufficient arm, and can create outside of structure and offer the ability to run. Young is worth the selection here.

Round 1, 10th Overall: Tyree Wilson, EDGE, Texas Tech

We shift to the other side of the football with the Texans second first-round selection. The defense just doesn’t have enough talent on the front seven right now. Tyree Wilson has already declared for the 2023 NFL Draft, and it’s easy to see why. Wilson is a versatile defensive linemen who can get reps as a three-technique and as a true edge. He has the explosiveness to slant and attack gaps, the length to keep tackles and guards from gaining control, and has the power to set a strong edge.
