2023 NFL Mock Draft: C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young Number One?
By Evan Bachman
14. Green Bay Packers: Jordan Addison, WR, USC
It’s pretty obvious watching the Packers offense that they need to do something to find Aaron Rodgers receivers to throw to. With the wide receiver free agency class being pretty weak, using their first round pick on a receiver appears to be their best bet.
The 2021 Biletnikoff winner lit up college football last season at Pitt. This season he transferred to USC forming one of college football’s best duos alongside Caleb Williams where he’s also found success.
Addison brings a lot to the table as a receiver. He’s a good separator at all levels of the field, can be trusted to come down with contested catches, and he’s dynamic with the ball in his hands.
15. Indianapolis Colts: Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee
After the surprise retirement of Andrew Luck the Colts have struck out numerous times trying to find a solution at quarterback via either trades or in free agency. It may be time for them to look to the draft for a solution.
Hendon Hooker has been one of the top contenders for the Heisman in a phenomenal season leading one of college football’s best offenses.
He will be 25 in January so I doubt he’ll be drafted any higher than this, but I think he’s displayed enough this season for someone in the mid to late first round area to take him.
Hooker has operated the Vols offense pretty flawlessly this season as he’s been super accurate, hits on a lot of deep balls, and keeps the ball out of harms way. He also has good rushing ability on both scrambles and designed runs.
This skillset may be coveted amongst teams picking in the middle or later part of the first round looking to secure an NFL ready quarterback.
