The Los Angeles Rams are heavily rumored to bring back Odell Beckham Jr., but the Green Bay Packers should swoop in and sign the superstar wide receiver.

The Green Bay Packers have forced Aaron Rodgers to make the most of the wide receiver group throughout the entirety of his 18-year career. It’s time to quit leaning so heavily on their aging quarterback by signing Odell Beckham Jr.

The organization drafted a couple of good-looking rookies in the 2022 NFL Draft, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs. While the fourth-round steal in Doubs looks like a real gem already, Watson has yet to prove his worth as a top-40 selection.

Even if these two become what the Packers brass envisions, their best years are likely still down the line. Outside of the two rookies, the wide receiver room consists primarily of Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is fresh off of back-to-back NFL MVP awards, but nearing age 40, he needs more to optimize their chances of winning a Super Bowl ring — before it’s too late. The answer to the equation is the most obvious one and that’s the former Rams playmaker.

The Green Bay Packers need a difference-maker at wide receiver, as anyone can see when watching the team in action. Free agent Odell Beckham Jr. is still without a team while recovering from a torn ACL, but if his health checks out, this is a match made in Heaven.

Beckham Jr. has caught passes from Eli Manning and Matt Stafford, both of whom are likely to don a gold jacket one day. However, Aaron Rodgers would present OBJ with a different tier of Hall of Fame talent.

Rodgers is still playing well in 2022, and by all accounts, he takes care of his body well and should feasibly have another couple of years of elite play in front of him. He is sorely missing Davante Adams and requires some veteran presence in the wide receiver room.

Odell Beckham Jr. rebuilt his image around the league after the Los Angeles Rams traded for the disgruntled star midway through the 2021 season. Coming off the back of a career-worst stretch in Cleveland, Odell served as the No. 2 option for the Rams en route to a Super Bowl run.

The former LSU Tiger was well on his way to contending for the SB MVP award before the unfortunate ACL injury befell him shortly after he scored a touchdown for Los Angeles. Not only was the timing poor due to Beckham’s impending free agency, but it also happened in February which put the availability of Odell in 2022 into question.

At this point, neither party has anything to lose by considering a partnership. The Packers just dropped a game in London to another former Odell team, the New York Giants. The weeks leading up, Green Bay narrowly skated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots in the weeks leading up.

To say the team is on shaky footing would be an understatement. Rodgers is locked in through at least the 2023 season and the Green Bay Packers will be kicking themselves if they don’t do everything in their power to make the most of this hall-of-fame talent at quarterback.

This type of move would go against the Green Bay DNA, but maybe it’s time to set a new precedent for the Packers. For the last 30 years, they’ve had a hall of famer behind center and while two rings is a spectacular feat, it’s impossible to not feel underwhelmed by this number.
