2023 NFL Mock Draft: Panthers, Lions Find New Signal-Callers
21. Los Angeles Chargers: Trenton Simpson, LB, Clemson
The Los Angeles Chargers definitely could’ve used the tackle run to start a bit later in this 2023 NFL Mock Draft, but maybe the belief in Trey Pipkins isn’t misplaced. When the unit is healthy, it’s a strong group. Jamaree Salyer has been solid at left tackle, and he likely kicks into guard in 2023. Linebacker is a position that needs more help, as Kenneth Murray hasn’t worked out to this point. Trenton Simpson plays big for an undersized linebacker, but he can be a stud on the overhang who gets around blocks and thrives in coverage.
22. New York Jets: Broderick Jones, OT, Georgia
The New York Jets are getting some great run out of their rookies already, and Zach Wilson has won both games since he returned. Mekhi Becton should be back for 2023, but tackle is still a need. In his first season as a full-time starter, Broderick Jones has been impressive in both phases. He might end up being the left tackle in 2023 when all is said and done.
23. Miami Dolphins (Forfeited)
24. Green Bay Packers: Isaiah Foskey, EDGE, Notre Dame
Something is going on in Green Bay. The defense isn’t playing up to its potential, and hero ball takes over the offense when Aaron Rodgers and company start trailing. Matt LaFleur has to get a grip on the locker room to survive the early season struggles. As for this mock, edge rusher isn’t the most pressing, but it provides the most value. Isaiah Foskey is a special athlete who has played off the ball, but he has the length and rush moves to be an impact starter on the edge.
