2023 NFL Mock Draft: A Shocking Run on QBs, Four Georgia Bulldogs, and Many More Surprises
By Hunter Haas
23. New York Giants – Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida
Full disclosure, I would be surprised if Anthony Richardson declared for the 2023 NFL Draft at this point, but the buzz around his name is still out there. Richardson draws comparisons to Josh Allen due to a similar makeup and because he’s just as raw of a passer as Allen was coming out of Wyoming.
The reason it makes sense for New York is that Allen’s former play caller, Brian Daboll, is the team’s head coach. He’s been credited with helping Allen become the player he is today, and there’s thought around NFL Draft circles that he will choose to embark on the same journey with Richardson.
24. Jacksonville Jaguars – Michael Mayer, TE, Notre Dame
The best tight end in the 2023 NFL Draft is Notre Dame’s, Michael Mayer. Doug Pederson loves using the tight end position in his scheme, demanding a player that is well-rounded enough to help in both the passing and running game. Mayer fits the bill and will give quarterback Trevor Lawrence a massive red zone target. Jacksonville’s offense will be among the best in the league if this mock draft comes to fruition.
25. Buffalo Bills – Jack Campbell, LB, Iowa
This one might be a surprise to some, but Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell is an underrated prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft. He is the leader of a Hawkeye unit that has been considered a top defensive unit in the Big Ten for a couple of years. Campbell fits the Bills’ scheme like a glove and will challenge for starter reps upon arrival. The instant impact is something Buffalo must look for as they are firmly in their Super Bowl window.
26. Dallas Cowboys – Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon
Noah Sewell has flashier traits and his tape is more exciting than the aforementioned Jack Campbell, so beauty is in the eye of the beholder at linebacker. Either way, the Dallas Cowboys land a team captain from the storied Oregon program. His skillset blends with Micah Parsons and he will provide a steady presence in the middle of the Dallas defense.
27. Green Bay Packers – Jaelyn Duncan, OL, Maryland
The Green Bay Packers have been saddled with offensive line injuries all year long. When healthy, they have a top-five group in the league, but it’s time to start adding more to the fold as insurance. There isn’t a glaring need on the roster, so give me the physically gifted offensive tackle from Maryland, Jaelyn Duncan. He will make sure the aging Aaron Rodgers stays in one piece, even if the injury bug hits them again.
