Jaguars (7 picks):

1:01 – Travon Walker, DL, Georgia

1:27 – Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah

3:01 – Luke Fortner, Center, Kentucky

3:06 – Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming

5:11 – Snoop Conner, RB, Ole Miss

6:19 – Gregory Junior, CB, Ouachita Baptist

7:01 – Montaric Brown, CB, Arkansas

I have a love-hate relationship with this 2022 NFL Draft class. General manager Trent Baalke is a polarizing figure in the NFL, so it is fitting that this haul is hard for me to put a finger on. At first glance, they added some DUDES on defense. Travon Walker is an athlete that doesn’t come around every year, but he is the most raw first overall pick in recent memory and not a guy that I would use a top-five pick on.

The team then traded back into round one and selected a linebacker, Devin Lloyd. I like Lloyd as a player, but I question the decision to trade up. Luke Fortner and Chad Muma were my favorite picks, and I see both having long careers in the NFL. When you add up all the parts of Walker-Lloyd-Muma, it looks better. I mean, just imagine trying to run the football against that.

Still, after a weird free agency period, I wanted to see a more “boring” haul obtained via the 2022 NFL Draft. We will see just how much Trevor Lawrence can elevate the roster in 2022.
