It can be debated as to which team “won” the 2022 NFL Draft, because there are a handful of teams that knocked it out of the park. The winner in my book is the New York Jets. It doesn’t matter which Big Board you use to grade this draft, they all say the same thing: holy cow the Jets hit a grand slam.
Taking a peek at my personal big board hammers home that fact even more. Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and Jeremy Rucket all were top-three prospects at their respective positions.
Jermaine Johnson II is a guy that I graded top-16 in the entire class, as well. Gardner is the most talented cornerback to don a Jets jersey since Darrelle Revis and I’m not sure they have had a running back as talented as Breece Hall since the Curtis Martin days (no LaDainian Tomlinson and Le’Veon Bell don’t count).
Garrett Wilson is the perfect final piece to a killer three-headed monster at wide receiver, and Jeremy Ruckert gives Zach Wilson yet another weapon. Joe Douglas bet big on his quarterback by doing everything in his power to surround him with high-end options, now it’s all up to Broadway Zach to make the most of it.
