New England Patriots 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 6, Pick 210

Pick Analysis. RB. Ole Miss. player. 841. Scouting Report. Jerrion Ealy. 210

An athlete in every sense of the word, Jerrion Ealy is a swiss army knife that seems like a prototypical Bill Belichick pick. A former MLB draft pick, Ealy has the ability to produce as a runner, pass catcher and special teamer, making his versatility the most intriguing part of his game.

James White is now 30-years old, so the Patriots could explore the idea of a player to take over that role eventually. Ealy is a player that could do that. He has an athletic skill set and has the ability to be a contributor in many ways. His stock would be higher if he tested better at the NFL Combine, particularly in the speed department, but this late in the draft that can be overlooked.

New England Patriots 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 7, Pick 245

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. DB. Virginia. 888. Nick Grant. 245

A three-year starter at Virginia, Nick Grant is another defensive back with intriguing size for NFL teams. Registering at 6-foot-3, he has the ability to play anywhere in the secondary and could even play in the box if needed as a pass coverage linebacker if he adds some size.

What could make Grant a Belichick-esque pick is his experience on special teams. New England has a history of adding players specifically for special teams and Grant not only has experience with that unit, but has done it well. He will need to improve as a tackler, but it’s enough to gain a look this late in the draft.
