New England Patriots 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 6, Pick 183

Scouting Report. 183. player. 872. Pick Analysis. OL. TCU (Memphis). Obinna Eze

Originally starting at Memphis, Obinna Eze transferred to TCU for the 2021 season and is now looking to move to the NFL. Standing over 6-foot-6, Eze has the size to play at the next level, but the skill set needs to be developed.

Taking Abraham Lucas earlier in the draft with the intention to play guard, the Patriots could still be in the market for true tackle depth in the later rounds. A player with upside that could be available is Eze.

A former basketball player, Eze has the length and size to intrigue teams. He just doesn’t have the skills to produce as a starter just yet at the NFL level. In the sixth round, this is a project pick for New England. It comes with little risk and a potential for high reward.

New England Patriots 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 6, Pick 200

DT. 200. Scouting Report. Missouri State. Eric Johnson. player. 47. Pick Analysis

We were so close to the Patriots holding pick 199. Oh what could have been for all the networks during day three of draft coverage. Instead, New England picks next at 200 and they could be in the market for another player with high upside.

Eric Johnson wasn’t an overly dominant player in college. He has plenty of experience with 48 games played, but the tape doesn’t stand out. That changed after the season. Since the end to the 2021 season, Johnson has performed well at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and the Senior Bowl.

There’s potential here with Johnson, but it’s hard to tell which player he truly is. The one we saw during the season or the one after. Belichick is the type of coach to accept that as a challenge and try and tap into the latter.
