Houston Texans 7-Round 2022 Mock Draft: Building A Strong Defense
The Houston Texans take advantage of their draft capital and build up a strong defense for Lovie Smith in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
It’s great to see that the Houston Texans are on their way to getting a rebuild right. Even when they were contending less than half a decade ago, the roster was often carried by the front four and quarterback Deshaun Watson. Now that Watson has been traded to the Cleveland Browns, the Texans are set up well here, with five picks in the first 80 selections of the 2022 NFL Draft.
The Texans found a way to retain two of their most impactful veteran players in Laremy Tunsil and Brandin Cooks, both of whom were talked about as trade targets all offseason. Tunsil and Tytus Howard have expectations to be the guys at the bookend tackle spots in 2022. Quarterback seems unlikely in this draft with Davis Mills impressing in year one. They have other young playmakers in Nico Collins and Brevin Jordan.
Houston Texans Mock Draft: Beefing Up The Defense
What really needs help is the defense. Losing Justin Reid didn’t help, and the giant holes along the defensive line and at corner need serious work. Luckily, this draft feels more defense-heavy. Also, there’s some trade news for the Texans as we sit three days out. Houston Traded away picks 183 and 245 to the New England Patriots for pick 170. With Nick Caserio as the GM, it isn’t surprising they made a move with his former organization.
What will the Houston Texans do throughout NFL Draft weekend? Let’s take a look with this final Texans mock draft here.
