The New York Jets could go a couple of different directions with their two first round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The New York Jets’ first year under the tutelage of head coach Robert Saleh didn’t go as smoothly as fans had hoped. The team struggled to find a rhythm on either side of the football which ultimately led to the team finishing the 2021 season with a 4 and 13 record, solidifying a top five pick for the second year in a row.

Last year, the team selected their new quarterback, Zach Wilson, second overall to be the face of their franchise moving forward but the lack of help around him led to major struggles for the rookie in year one. That is why the 2022 NFL Draft is so important for the New York Jets and the future of their young signal-caller. They have got to add instant impact players on both sides of the football in order to put Wilson in a place to succeed moving forward.

Fortunately, thanks to the Jamal Adams trade during the 2020 offseason, the New York Jets have two top 10 picks (4, 10) for the first time since the start of the Joe Namath era in 1965. This puts the team in prime position to land a couple of the top talents in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The question then simply becomes who should the New York Jets target with each pick? They could go several different directions as they have a bevy of needs on both offense and defense. The Jets have got to add more talent to a very thin receiver room, as well as bolster their offensive line to help keep Zach Wilson upright this season. On defense, finding a consistent pass rusher off the edge is priority number one in the draft while strengthening their secondary and linebacker positions is a must as well.

As we inch closer to Thursday’s fun, lets take a closer look at who the oddsmakers say is the favorite for picks 4 and 10, as well as a couple of potential dark horse names to keep an eye on with each selection. Here are the New York Jets first-round targets ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft.
