Detroit Lions 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 5, Pick 177

CB. Arkansas. Montaric Brown. player. 844. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 177

After having five picks in the first three rounds, the Detroit Lions don’t pick again until late in the fifth round. That lull could change with trades, but as of now it could be a slow start to day three in Detroit.

With that being said, the picks they do have will need to count. After going with Tycen Anderson in the third, the Lions return to the secondary, but this time with a cornerback. Montaric Brown might not the best cornerback out of the SEC, but he does have a knack for finding the ball.

Best as a zone coverage corner, Brown tied for fourth in the nation with five interceptions in 2021. He also added a team-high six passes defended and a career-high 54 tackles en route to being named First-Team All-SEC. Brown’s ability to make plays on the ball and his upward trajectory in his final year at Arkansas should bode well for his transition to the NFL.

Detroit Lions 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 6, Pick 181

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 181. player. OL. Tennessee. Cade Mays. 839

Adding offensive line depth in the backend of the draft is a common practice and one name that could be worth exploring in this area is Cade Mays. Mays has a lot of upside and can play all five positions on the offensive line, but battled injuries nearly every year at Tennessee, which has caused his value to drop.

If Mays can stay healthy, he could be a solid backup in the NFL. His ability to play anywhere on the line makes him valuable. As experience comes, he could grow into a starting role eventually.
