Detroit Lions 7-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 34

Scouting Report. LB. Nakobe Dean. 34. player. Pick Analysis. Georgia. 814

The Detroit Lions are need of a true anchor to their defense. Alex Anzalone was impressive this past season with Jalen Reeves-Maybin, but the latter is no longer with the team. While the Lions brought in Jarrad Davis in free agency, they could still use another linebacker to pair with Anzalone.

Nakobe Dean is a player that can immediately step in and not only play, but provide a massive impact. He’s a first round talent without a doubt, but linebackers don’t carry the value they used to in the draft process. Holding the second pick of the second round, the Lions are going to be looking for a first round talent that fell out of the first round. Dean fits the bill perfectly.

Dean has been compared to Devin Bush and it’s easy to see why. He makes plays all over the field and in every way possible. Last season at Georgia he had 10.5 tackles for loss  and six sacks in the backfield. But he also dropped into coverage for five passes defended and two interceptions.

A swiss army knife linebacker like Dean would be a great addition to any team rebuilding. The Lions could get a steal if he falls to them in the second round.
