Seattle Seahawks 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 3, Pick 72

Scouting Report. 72. 2117. Pick Analysis. WR. South Alabama. Jalen Tolbert. player

The wide receiver room in Seattle isn’t awful by any means, but it isn’t great. Beyond DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, there’s room for improvement. Throw in the fact that Metcalf could be on the move this season or next and it’s clear to see why using a mid-round pick on a wide receiver could be worth it.

This is a deep wide receiver class, so top talent could trickle down the draft. Jalen Tolbert is better than a third round pick, but with so much talent at the position, he could be one player that falls a bit.

Tolbert shows some signs of a skill set similar to that of Metcalf. He has a nice blend of speed and size, measuring 6-foot-1 at the NFL Combine while running a 4.49 40-yard dash. He’s also received comparisons to Marvin Jones for the same reasons.

Tolbert has proved himself against big time opponents and put up seven games with 100 yards or more in 2021 en route to just shy of 1,500 receiving yards. There’s of course areas for improvement, like fixing dropped passes, but the potential is clearly there for Tolbert to be a top wide receiver at the NFL level.
