Seattle Seahawks 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 40

Pick Analysis. 811. Scouting Report. EDGE. Michigan. David Ojabo. 40. player

This is where building for the future really comes into play and allows the Seahawks to land top talent at a discount. If the Seahawks are planning for 2023, then taking a player like David Ojabo who could miss time won’t hurt them much in the short term while providing tons of long-term upside.

Once a top 10 selection, Ojabo tore his Achilles during his Pro Day workout and has now toppled into the late first round, early second round range. It’s hard to tell if he will fall as far as the 40s, but if he’s still on the board for the Seahawks, Seattle needs to take him. Cam Akers showed that coming back quickly from such an injury is possible, but even if he misses all of 2022, that’s something the Seahawks can live with.

Having already added Shelby Harris and Uchenna Nwosu this offseason, the Seahawks pass rush is going to look much improved in 2022. If they can add Ojabo to that mix either late in the 2022 campaign or fresh in 2023, this could be a dangerous unit to game plan against once again.

Considering Ojabo put up 12 tackles for loss and 11 sacks this past season, Seattle could come away with a massive second round steal here.
