Seattle Seahawks 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 1, Pick 9

player. Charles Cross. 9. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. OT. Mississippi State. 893

The first step in building a foundation for the future is shoring up the offensive line. While other players on the board could be very tempting, like Ahmad Gardner, the Seattle Seahawks need to upgrade their offensive line if they want anyone to have a chance at succeeding in the quarterback role.

The Seahawks lost both starting tackles from this past season and have yet to do much to address either spot. They’ve made additions to the interior of the line, but having strong tackles is the most important part of the line and Seattle is clearly missing that.

With the ninth pick, odds are the top two tackles will be off the board with Evan Neal and Ikem Ekwonu. If one of them falls, then it’s a no-brainer for the Seahawks. If not, then they can look to Charles Cross as a fall back option.

While Neal and Ekwonu are the top two tackles, Cross isn’t far off. He spent the 2021 season at left tackle, so he can immediately slide in and block the blind side. Some believe him to be the best pass blocker in this class, but his run blocking will need some tuning up. Regardless, Cross is the best option for the Seahawks here and gives Seattle a much needed cornerstone to the offensive line.
