This is a pivotal offseason for the Carolina Panthers, and they find themselves in a difficult position. They traded multiple draft picks for Sam Darnold and are stuck with only one pick over the first two days of the 2022 NFL Draft. They have their first-round pick at #6 overall, but don’t pick again until the fourth round at #137 overall.

Their two main positions of need are offensive tackle, and quarterback. It’s very possible that the Carolina Panthers select a quarterback at #6 overall, with Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett being the favorite. If not him, then the Panthers may select Liberty’s Malik Willis, as most pundits believe that he has the highest upside among the quarterbacks in the 2022 NFL Draft class.

But Carolina could also zag and pick an offensive tackle at #6 and address the quarterback position later in the draft or through the trade market. They’ve reportedly been in on discussions about Cleveland’s Baker Mayfield, but a report came out today from beat reporter Sheena Quick that the Carolina Panthers were simply performing their due diligence and a deal for Mayfield likely won’t be completed before the draft.

This article will focus on some late round targets that the Carolina Panthers may be looking at. Who they pick at #6 will obviously greatly affect who they target in the later rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft. The exception to this may be the offensive tackle position.

If Carolina selects a tackle with the #6 overall pick, they may pick another one later, as both of their current starting offensive tackles (Cameron Erving and Taylor Moton) leave a bit to be desired. Let’s examine a slew of late round targets for the Carolina Panthers in the 2022 NFL Draft.
