The Arizona Cardinals have had a fascinating offseason in 2022. The headlines have to be the players they lost: edge rusher Chandler Jones, wide receiver Christian Kirk, and running back Chase Edmonds. The list of key players they re-signed includes running back James Conner and tight ends Zach Ertz and Maxx Williams. They were forced to release linebacker Jordan Hicks and interior defensive lineman Jordan Phillips. This has left them with some significant holes to fill in the last season of Kyler Murray’s rookie deal.

The 2022 NFL Draft would be a cost-effective way to add a few pieces on the cheap. The Arizona Cardinals will have eight draft choices in the 2022 NFL Draft, but, barring any trades, zero selections in the fourth or fifth rounds. They traded this year’s fourth round pick last year to move up and take cornerback Marco Wilson, and they offloaded their fifth-round selection this year as part of a trade package to acquire tight end Zach Ertz.

Arizona Cardinals 2022 NFL Draft Late Round Targets

All told, the Arizona Cardinals will have five selections in the sixth and seventh rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft. Three of these are compensatory picks that they received for free agent departures last offseason.

The hit rates on players picked in the latter two rounds of the NFL Draft aren’t very high. In fact, according to ideo.com teams only have a 10-20% chance of drafting a future starter in rounds six or seven.

With that being said, Tom Brady and Antonio Brown were both sixth round draft choices and former Packers wide receiver Donald Driver was selected in the seventh round. While finding perennial Pro Bowl players in the final two rounds of the NFL Draft is rare, it does occasionally happen. The Arizona Cardinals are hoping they can land an impact player after 200 prospects have already been selected. Here are some late round targets that Arizona may take a flier on.
