Round 6, 220th Overall: Zonovan Knight, RB, NC State

We are back to the offensive side of the ball for the San Francisco 49ers for these last three selections. Elijah Mitchell has secured the number one running back spot, and there’s still hope for Trey Sermon, but Shanahan likes to keep adding to the running back room and roll with a committee.

Zonovan “Bam” Knight possesses the speed, vision, and contact balance to thrive with some limited touches in the run game. Knight also offers the ability to be a returner on special teams, as he had three touchdowns and averaged 30.8 yards per return in college.

Round 6, 221st Overall: Gerrit Prince, TE, UAB

More playmakers? Absolutely! There should be no shortage of helping out Lance on the offensive side of the ball. Gerrit Prince probably won’t play snaps inline, but he’s a good move tight end who can get up the seam in a hurry and create after the catch. He had 10 touchdowns in his final season at UAB and averaged over 19 yards per reception.

Round 7, 262nd Overall: Ryan Van Demark, OT, Connecticut

As previously mentioned, there are no guarantees with McGlinchey. So, the San Francisco 49ers finish by selection a potential replacement at right tackle. Ryan Van Demark has the athleticism, quick feet, and hand placement to thrive as a pass protector. Seeing him fire off the ball more in the run game would be good, and that’s something he can work on in a “redshirt year” in 2022.
