San Francisco 49ers 7-Round Mock Draft: Secondary Help Early
The San Francisco 49ers don’t pick until the second round, but they’ll be able to take advantage of a deeper-than-good class. They do so in this 7-round mock draft.
The San Francisco 49ers are one of the most fascinating teams this offseason. After surprisingly reaching the NFC Championship game (especially after being a middling team at midseason), the 49ers fell just short of upsetting the Rams in Los Angeles behind Jimmy Garoppolo.
After trading away several first-round picks to get Trey Lance in the 2021 draft, it looked like 2022 would be the offseason that the 49ers would finally trade Garoppolo and let Lance take the reins. However, the quarterback market took some interesting turns, and teams that many believed would be interested in Garoppolo went other directions. The Steelers got Mitchell Trubisky (likely with a rookie), and the Colts traded for Matt Ryan after unloading Carson Wentz.
Now, the 49ers may have to hold on to Garoppolo for another season to potentially back up Lance. Lance was considered “raw” coming out of college, maybe based on the small amount of starts he had at North Dakota State. Still, the arm talent, mobility, toughness, and mechanics are all there. He will have reliable targets in the passing game in Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, along with a strong running game.
San Francisco 49ers Mock Draft: Secondary, Offensive Line, Playmakers
It’s going to be interesting to see if the offense switches in 2022 a bit, but until then, the focus is reloading the roster in the 2022 NFL Draft. The San Francisco 49ers don’t have a first-round pick, but they have enough picks to take advantage of a solid class. Let’s look at who the 49ers could select in this 7-round 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
