3-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: QBs Go Early and Often
By Hunter Haas
For a majority of the offseason, Aidan Hutchinson was essentially sharpie’d into the top spot of every 2022 NFL Mock Draft you could find. Georgia’s Travon Walker closed the gap due to an impressive showing at the Combine, opening up a true debate for the No. 1 overall pick. General manager Trent Baalke won’t be able to help himself with the athletic upside Walker has. I believe the Walker to Jaguars hype.
Dan Campbell and company have been linked to a couple different quarterbacks this offseason, chief among them being Malik Willis. The franchise likely doesn’t expect Hutchinson to be an option, but in the event that Walker does go No. 1 overall, it would make things difficult for the Lions. Ultimately, the temptation to keep the Michigan raised Hutchinson in-state is too much to pass on in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
There are so many different ways that this pick could go, but due to the cloud surrounding Laremy Tunsil and his future in Houston, protecting Davis Mills should be the move. Even if the relationship with Tunsil is repaired, Ekwonu is a pick they’ll never regret making. Tunsil-Ickey-Tytus Howard on the same offensive line is en fuego.
The way that Sauce Gardner presents himself on and off the field is reminiscent of former Jets’ cornerback, Darrelle Revis. Much like Revis, Sauce loves to be out on an island with his assignment. There are so many merchandizing opportunities with “Sauce Island”, and the former Cincinnati Bearcat becomes the most talented cornerback the New York Jets have had in green since Revis.
