Green Bay Packers: First Round Targets In The 2022 NFL Draft
Defensive Line/EDGE
Yes, the Green Bay Packers have Preston Smith and Rashan Gary on the edge, but this is the exact same scenario as three years ago when Preston and Za’Darius just signed. However, the unit doesn’t have much depth at all, so don’t be surprised if it happens again.
George Karlaftis
George Karlaftis has seen his stock drop a bit throughout this cycle. He had a wildly productive freshman season, but saw a ton of double and triple teams in 2021. Karlaftis might not have the first step and explosion of other edge rushers, but he’s strong, technically refined, and plays with a hot motor. He would be a fantastic third rusher in Green Bay who could kick inside on passing downs.
Logan Hall
Logan Hall is another versatile defensive lineman that could end up being a selection at pick 28. Hall can play both 5-tech and 3-tech, and possesses the power, first step explosiveness, and closing speed to pressure quarterbacks and make plays against the run to the perimeter. He won’t stick on the inside on early downs, but he’d be the specialist to get after quarterbacks on later downs.
Travis Jones
This one would be a little shocking, but there’s a chance. Jarran Reed is only here on a one-year deal, and while Travis Jones brings a similar skill set, his explosiveness and power combo for a player his size is excellent. He got to show it at the Senior Bowl, and Jones would be the guy who can free up Kenny Clark much more.
