The Arizona Cardinals find themselves needing another bigger wide receiver as Christian Kirk left for Jacksonville, signing a massive four-year $72 million contract with the Jaguars. Treylon Burks would fit the profile as a big receiver that could line up out wide as he’s 6’3” 225 pounds. He may have played the same position as Jameson Williams in the same conference (the SEC), but he’s a completely different player. Williams is light and fast like a Corvette, and Burks is bigger and stronger like a Hummer.

Treylon Burks also didn’t have a Heisman trophy winner throwing him the ball like Williams. This makes Burks’ solid stats (66 catches, 1,104 yards, 11 touchdowns) that much more impressive. There’s also the fact that he moderately produced in an abbreviated 2020 season (820 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns in 9 games) as well. Burks likely doesn’t have as high a ceiling as some of the other receivers that will go before him in the 2022 NFL Draft like Ohio State’s Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave, but he has the build and skill set to contribute right away and for years to come.

He has huge hands and reportedly wears 5XL gloves. This makes catching the football easier and also helps him when run blocking. Treylon Burks might also be a large player, but he moves with fluidity and can even operate effectively out of the slot or the backfield, where players need to make quick and sharp cuts.

He’s also strong at the catch point and after the catch, frequently breaking tackles and picking up extra yardage after contact. The Arizona Cardinals were seventh in the NFL in rushing attempts per game last year, and they just re-signed running back James Conner. Treylon Burks would be able to contribute in the running game as a blocker and the passing game as a motion man and receiver.
