2022 NFL Mock Draft: Panthers, Steelers, Lions All Take QBs In Round 1
By Evan Bachman
1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan
Before free agency it looked like the Jaguars were headed towards drafting an offensive tackle with this pick. However, after franchise tagging Cam Robinson it now looks like they’ll be looking elsewhere.
In most drafts the number one overall pick is very obvious at this point, however this draft it’s still up in the air. Aidan Hutchinson has emerged as the favorite here, however another edge like Travon Walker or Kayvon Thibodeaux could be in play and an offensive tackle like Ickey Ekwonu or Evan Neal could also be on the table.
That said, Hutchinson being the pick would make sense, so that’s where they go in this 2022 NFL mock draft. Ka’Lavon Chaisson has been a disappointment at this point in his career and plugging Hutchinson in as the edge rusher across from Josh Allen would be pretty intriguing.
Hutchinson is simply a freak athletically, standing at 6-foot-6, 265 pounds he moves very well and he can win with quickness or power. He certainly has all the physical tools to develop into an elite edge rusher in the NFL.
He has always been very good against the run however last season he was dominant rushing the passer as well as he recorded 74 pressures and 14 sacks in 14 games. This type of high level play rushing the passer this season has really cemented him as one of the best prospects in this draft.
