Pick Analysis. DT. Alabama. player. 26. Scouting Report. Phidarian Mathis. 45

The Baltimore Ravens had the best run defense in the NFL last season. However, they lost pieces of that line in Calais Campbell, Brandon Williams and others. While Baltimore could look to areas that may need more immediate help, retooling the defensive line could be worth it in the AFC North with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.

Phidarian Mathis has some growing to do. He’s still a bit raw and playing on a stout Alabama defense can allow players to hide some shortcomings with the amount of talent on that side of the ball. However, he has the abilities to become a defensive anchor in the middle of the defensive line.

S. Penn State. 60. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jaquan Brisker. 46. player

The Minnesota defense has been upgraded this offseason. There’s no questioning that. Za’Darius Smith, Harrison Phillips and Jordan Hicks have all been added. One area that hasn’t been adjusted too much is the secondary.

The Vikings added Ahmad Gardner in the first round, an incredible addition with 12th pick, and can continue in the secondary here. Jaquan Brisker graded well at the Combine and could arguably be the second-best safety in this class. He has a versatile skill set and will need to work on a few “rookie mistakes” that could happen if they aren’t addressed, but the ground work is there for a productive NFL player.
