The Washington Commanders stop the fall of a blue chip talent in this 7-round 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

The Washington Commanders got in on the wild offseason and the quarterback carousel, trading for former Eagles and Colts signal-caller Carson Wentz. The Colts and Commanders swapped second-round selections, and the Commanders gave Indy a third-rounder this year and a conditional third in 2023. Washington also received a seventh-round pick.

There’s plenty of discourse surrounding Wentz. Whether or not he hindered the Colts last season as a whole can be debated. He shined in some games, and played poorly in others, most notably the end-of-season bout with the Jaguars. Honing in that volatility isn’t easy, but maybe Washington is up to the task.

If they can get the quarterback position right, the roster is in a good place. The offensive line is well-built, with Cornelias Lucas, Charles Leno, and Samuel Cosmi at tackle. They added Andrew Norwell, and there’s hope that Saadhiq Charles can find a home somewhere.

The weapons are in place as well. Antonio Gibson and J.D. McKissic are a nice duo at running back, and a healthy Logan Thomas is a very good player. There is a question about an extension for Terry McLaurin, but hopefully that gets done.

With few holes, pick 11 should become a best player available pick to round out the defense or offense. They do that in this mock and address a few other positions that feel shallow. Let’s look at who they could select in this Washington Commanders mock draft.
