Perrion Winfrey, Oklahoma

After having one of the most impressive Senior Bowl weekends of any 2022 NFL Draft prospects, Oklahoma’s Perrion Winfrey has launched his name into the first round conversation. If he is still on the board for the Cleveland Browns at 44, I think it’s a no-brainer.

With incredible length and strength, Winfrey is able to engage blockers and quickly dominate the point of attack. Combine that with his athleticism and you can see how over 40% of his tackles came behind the line of scrimmage. Winfrey can be an every-down player for the Cleveland Browns defensive line that is undergoing a near complete overhaul, particularly on the inside.

Travis Jones, Connecticut

Travis Jones is a very impressive nose tackle prospect out of UConn. He has great size at 6-foot-4 and 325 lbs, but plays with a great anchor and low center of gravity in the middle of the defense. He isn’t the most athletic defensive tackle, but his power and strength will allow him to be a start right away coming out of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Jones is an experienced player that was very productive throughout his career for the Huskies, both before and after the team took a year completely off due to COVID. His consistency will be an asset for teams early in the 2022 NFL Draft and would make an early impact for the Cleveland Browns this season.

DeMarvin Leal, Texas A&M

DeMarvin Leal was a five-star recruit who found success early and often in his playing career for the Aggies. Leal is a very versatile player who can play at any spot on the defensive line. At Texas A&M, he was very productive both inside and outside.

As a Junior last year, Leal put up some impressive numbers in the SEC. On the season, Leal racked up 8.5 sacks and 58 tackles,12.5 of those tackles for loss. Once viewed as a sure-fire first-round pick and possibly the first interior defensive lineman off the board for the 2022 NFL Draft, Leal didn’t test the greatest at the combine and has been tumbling ever since.

If Leal does fall to 44, the Cleveland Browns would be wise to consider selecting him. He clearly has the talent to impact the game on every down, and did so at the highest level of college football in the SEC. Leal could help the Browns all along the defensive line and could allow defensive coordinator Joe Woods’ defense to be even more versatile in 2022.
