Round 6, 191st Overall: Isaiah Weston, WR, Northern Iowa

It’s entire possible that the Minnesota Vikings dip into the wide receiver pool a bit earlier than this, especially at 12 if someone like Jameson Williams or Chris Olave suits their fancy. Adam Thielen is getting older, and K.J. Osborn, while a nice player, doesn’t move the needle as a true WR2.

Here, late in this mock draft, the Vikings add more size and speed to their room in the vein of Ihmir Smith-Marsette in last year’s draft. Isaiah Weston is a bit off the radar, even after posting absurd testing numbers. The 6’3 1/2″, 214-pound receiver posted elite explosion numbers and a 4.42 forty. He’s got the goods to win deep and offers good ball skills at the catch point.

Round 6, 192nd Overall: Faion Hicks, CB, Wisconsin

Why not continue to dip into the Wisconsin pool, especially since they do it often at the pro level (signed Smith and Chandon Sullivan this offseason)? Faion Hicks isn’t getting a lot of love in a deep corner class, but his football IQ, patience, and quick transitions offer ability to play on the boundary or in the slot.

Round 7, 250th Overall: Dion Novil, DL, North Texas

It will be important for the Vikings to add more to the interior of the defensive line after losing Michael Pierce in free agency. Dion Novil is a strong defensive tackle who has been productive in two of his five season at North Texas, where he posted seasons of 10-plus tackles for loss in 2019 and 2021. He’d offer more juice to a unit that needs to be better at getting after the quarterback.
