Seattle Seahawks Trade Offer #3 For Baker Mayfield

The Cleveland Browns have expressed an interest to land a day two selection in return for Baker Mayfield. Now, that doesn’t mean that will happen, but if the Seahawks want the best shot at landing Mayfield that’s the price to offer.

With back-to-back second round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, thanks to acquiring the No. 40 pick from the Denver Broncos, the Seattle Seahawks have some flexibility with day two selections. Offering Cleveland the second of the two picks at No. 41 still gives Seattle the upper hand to pick before Cleveland.

Mayfield alone, though, might not be enough for this high of a second round pick. That’s where Anthony Schwartz comes back in. Even without Metcalf going to Cleveland in a deal, it’s hard to see a role for Schwartz in Cleveland’s offense.

Amari Cooper, Jakeem Grant and Donovan Peoples-Jones are all ahead of Schwartz on the depth chart and Cleveland might not be done adding free agent wide receivers. Schwartz is still young, cheap and has a lot of upside to create interest.

Here, the Seahawks would still hold on to picks in the first, second and third rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft while solving their quarterback problem for at least a season and adding another piece to the puzzle in Schwartz. If the Cleveland Browns have their hearts set on a day two 2022 NFL Draft pick, this offer might be one to consider.
