Detroit Lions Free Agent Target #2: Bobby Wagner

The situation for Bobby Wagner is similar to Myles Jack, but the appeal to each is different. Wagner is a 10-year veteran with a Super Bowl ring. He’s a long-time captain in the league and has been the driving force of the Seattle defense for a long time now. The problem could be the price tag.

Wagner hasn’t missed a game since 2018 and has missed just two going back to the start of the 2015 season, making him one of the most reliable players on the free agent market. On top of that, his production has been off the charts.

Over his 10 seasons in the NFL, Wagner has tallied at least 100 tackles in each season. His career-low was 104 back in 2014 when he played only 11 games. Every other season has resulted in at least 114 tackles, including leading the NFL twice.

The price will be the main talking point for Wagner and if being on a current contender matters will be a close second. It would be a hard sell for the Lions, but it’s worth it to at least explore the possibility. The worst thing that can happen is the talks never truly form and both sides are back where they started out anyway.
