Chicago Bears: 5 Free Agents The Chicago Bears Need To Target
By Kyle Edmond
Chicago Bears Free Agent Target #1: Laquon Treadwell, WR
The Chicago Bears need wide receivers. That is painfully clear. The Bears ranked 25th in receiving yards this past season and could now lose four of their top six receivers in free agency, including Allen Robinson. Wide receiver is a position that Chicago can find affordable help with upside, and that’s exactly what Chicago native Laquon Treadwell would offer.
A former first round pick, Treadwell has struggled to stay on the field and has struggled even more to produce. However, he’s coming off his best season statistically and he did so over just 12 games played. While 434 receiving yards and just one touchdown might not excite every fan, it showed that Treadwell still has tread left on the tires.
Treadwell will be 27-years old during the upcoming 2022 season and could be the right type of player for Chicago. His last two deals have both been one-year contracts under the $1 million mark, meaning he should be a cheap investment with some potential upside.
He’s still a far cry from the player that the Minnesota Vikings took out of Ole Miss, but Treadwell could provide a boost to this Chicago offense. If it doesn’t work out, the Bears won’t be out too much money.
