After a very disappointing 2021 season, the Cleveland Browns now shift their focus to the offseason. Here are five free agents the team should target.

The 2022 NFL free agency period is upon us. For a team like the Cleveland Browns, this is a pivotal time to round out a roster that had sky-high expectations going into last season. While a couple of signings certainly will not solve all of the team’s issues, adding a few key pieces will be important if the Cleveland Browns want to take a step toward Super Bowl contention in 2022.

Now, we will take a look at five free agent players that I believe the Cleveland Browns should consider signing this offseason. Andrew Berry has a handful of positions that need to be addressed to round out the Cleveland Browns roster. Bringing in some impactful veterans will be imperative for the growth of this young and talented team.

Scouting Report. Strong Safety. Jayron Kearse. player. Pick Analysis. Dallas Cowboys. 5. 53

Jayron Kearse had a breakout season under Dan Quinn with the Dallas Cowboys in 2021. A versatile defender, Kearse is exactly the type of hybrid player that the Cleveland Browns have been adding to the defense for Joe Woods.

With background as a deep safety, Kearse knows what it takes to hold his own in coverage. He will not be playing single-high zone any time soon, but he has good instincts and excels in man coverage against bigger receivers. Where Kearse really made an impact last season, though, is as a tackler. Kearse led the Cowboys in tackles in 2021, proving his value on every down.

Jayron Kearse is the type of player that would fit in perfect with the Cleveland Browns and what Joe Woods is doing with the defense. Alongside other versatile defenders like Jeremiah Owusu-Koromoah, John Johnson III and Grant Delpit, Kearse would be another weapon to unleash on opposing offenses in 2022.
