2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 1, Pick 17 (Los Angeles Chargers)

Pick Analysis. DT. Oklahoma. Perrion Winfrey. 13. Scouting Report. 17. player

The Los Angeles Chargers made one of the biggest non-quarterback splashes of the offseason earlier this week when they acquired Khalil Mack from the Chicago Bears. In doing so, the Chargers surrendered just two picks with the highest being a 2023 third rounder. Quite the bargain, especially when you consider what the Bears paid for Mack not too long ago.

Mack and Joey Bosa off the edges will be a force for opposing offenses, but the Chargers are set to lose both of their starting defensive tackles. If they want the most out of their pass rush, they need to add players to the interior of the defensive line.

Perrion Winfrey has length and relies on power, which could compliment the speed of Mack and Bosa. He’s a bit raw, but the talent is clearly there for the Chargers to mold.

2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 1, Pick 18 (New Orleans Saints)

18. 15. Pick Analysis. WR. Ohio State. Chris Olave. player. Scouting Report

With Willis and Pickett off the board there really isn’t a quarterback here that is worth this selection for the New Orleans Saints. So instead of taking a quarterback, they can help whoever ends up playing that position by adding offensive weapons.

With the absence of Michael Thomas, the Saints offense this year was stagnant. Alvin Kamara was the one true weapon. The team’s leading receiver, Marquez Callaway, had just 698 receiving yards. Whether or not Thomas is back in 2022, New Orleans needs help here.

Earlier I said that Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave were similar. What sets Olave apart from Wilson is his speed and quickness, two skills that would compliment Thomas well in the New Orleans offense.
