2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 59 (Green Bay Packers)

49. TE. Colorado State. Trey McBride. 59. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Green Bay Packers have been begged to add weapons over the last few years and just haven’t been able to do so. With Aaron Rodgers now locked in for another four years, perhaps that begins to change. After protecting Rodgers in the first round, the Packers now add a weapon for him to target.

During the 2021 season, Trey McBride displayed a wide range of skills for the tight end position. He hauled in 90 passes for over 1,100 yards, but scored just once. The flashes as a receiver are intriguing, but the touchdown tally needs to improve. He’s received comparisons to Austin Hooper, which seems like the style of tight end that Rodgers would like to add.

2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 60 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

CB. Houston. 60. 48. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Marcus Jones. player

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were able to apply a few band-aid fixes to their secondary this past season with signings like Richard Sherman, but the unit is going to take a bigger hit this offseason. In addition to Sherman, Tampa Bay could also lose Carlton Davis and Jordan Whitehead.

At just 5-foot-8, Marcus Jones is a smaller cornerback, but he has a knack for finding the ball that makes up for his size. During the 2021 season, he registered 13 passes defended on top of five interceptions. It’ll be interesting to see how his skills translate from the American Conference to the NFL, but the ability is definitely present.
