2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 49 (Trade)*

49. player. 36. Scouting Report. Baylor. Jalen Pitre. S. Pick Analysis

For the third consecutive pick to start their 2022 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks opt for the defensive side of the ball. The best Seahawk teams were always strong defensively and the team has lost that part of their identity a bit over the last few seasons, having the second-worst pass defense in 2021. Now, they restart the process with three key pieces.

After adding Derek Stingley Jr. in the first round, the Seahawks return to the secondary with this selection. A versatile defensive back, Jalen Pitre can play both cornerback and safety along with strong skills in both man and zone coverage.

For a defense that needs to rebuild from nearly the studs, Pitre is a valuable weapon. He totaled 135 tackles over the last two seasons, including 29.5 tackles for loss while knocking down nine pass attempts.

2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick 50 (Miami Dolphins)

WR. John Metchie III. player. Pick Analysis. Alabama. 50. 59. Scouting Report

The Miami Dolphins have already witnessed the chemistry between Tua Tagovailoa and his Alabama weapons. Jaylen Waddle had a strong rookie season, but the Dolphins are going to need more weapons in the passing game, even with running back Kenneth Walker III in the first round.

John Metchie III put together back-to-back solid seasons at Alabama, but was never able to be in the spotlight of the offense. Pairing him with Waddle again would allow Metchie to stay in the shadows of the Miami offense and become a hidden weapon for the Dolphins.
