2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 1, Pick 21 (New England Patriots)
The New England Patriots are entering a bit of a new era, without ever missing a beat. The transition from Tom Brady to Mac Jones seemed to happen quicker than anticipated and now the Patriots could look to transition other positions in the same manner.
In my offseason needs for the Patriots, linebacker was at the top of the list. New England could lose multiple key players from the unit and will need new faces to fill those roles. Like Brady to Jones, Nakobe Dean could step in and take over the role of Dont’a Hightower, Kyle Van Noy or Jamie Collins.
Dean is probably one of the best prospects in this class, but linebacker is an undervalued position in today’s NFL. Belichick has a chance to get a steal here, and of course he will if he believes the same.
2022 NFL Mock Draft: Round 1, Pick 22 (Las Vegas Raiders)
The Las Vegas Raiders could potentially lose their top five defensive tackles. The list of pending free agents includes Johnathan Hankins, Quinton Jefferson, Gerald McCoy, Solomon Thomas and Darius Philon. Even if a few of those five return, the Raiders are going to have to make additional moves to curb any regression here.
Devonte Wyatt played alongside Jordan Davis at Georgia, so it will be interesting to see how he performs without a player of that caliber next to him. Experience won’t be the issue for Wyatt, having played in 42 games for Georgia, but he’ll have to make the adjustment of possibly being the main force of the defensive line’s interior.
