17. Los Angeles Chargers: Derek Stingley Jr., CB, LSU

Obviously, the Jordan Davis-Los Angeles Chargers pairing doesn’t happen here, but things work out pretty darn well anyway in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft. The Chargers have other needs besides run-stuffing defensive tackles, especially in the secondary that has a developing Asante Samuel Jr. and Michael Davis with no depth.

Derek Stingley Jr. would be a home run selection here. Yes, the production and play from Stingley hasn’t matched 2019, but the talent is still there to be a dominant cover corner. His instincts, transitions, and ball skills are excellent, and the Chargers need to have elite pass coverage in a explosive offense-dominated AFC.

18. New Orleans Saints: Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama

The New Orleans Saints should just bring back Jameis Winston at the quarterback position rather than reach in a weaker quarterback class in the 2022 NFL Draft. This 2022 NFL Mock Draft features the Saints go in a direction that gives them a vaunted deep threat for Winston in the passing game.

Jameson Williams has incredible explosion in the short area, and treats cushion like it’s a racetrack. He covers up ground in an instant, and can stop and start on a dime, making life extremely difficult for corners. His ability to transition quickly from catch to run is impressive, as is his separation quickness.
