2-Round 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Vikings Go QB, Ravens Get Jordan Davis
11. Washington Commanders: Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
Like the Broncos, the Washington Commanders could be looking at the veteran market at quarterback rather than tunneling early in the 2022 NFL Draft. If they don’t go quarterback, it’s likely receiver or corner at 11, and in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, wide receiver is the play.
It might be odd to see Chris Olave as the first receiver off the board here, but he fits a role that the Commanders hope Dyami Brown can fill. After a rough first season, they quickly pivot and make Olave the deep threat. Olave’s 4.39 forty proved to many that he shouldn’t have a problem winning deep, and he does all the little things well as a route runner to create space for himself. Olave would gel well with Terry McLaurin to terrorize defenses.
12. Minnesota Vikings: Malik Willis, QB, Liberty
The Minnesota Vikings grab the second quarterback in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, and don’t have to trade any picks to move up in this scenario. It seems like Kevin O’Connell is good with rolling with Kirk Cousins in 2022, but after that will be the question. Why not have the succession plan in place already?
Malik Willis has the upside that teams desire in a quarterback, possessing a strong arm and the athleticism as a runner to have the escapability to pick up yardage as a scrambler to frustrate defenses. As his reads become more crisp, he can assume the role of starter in 2023.
