Round 5, 145th Overall: Justin Shaffer, OL, Georgia

With Becton, Vera-Tucker, and Ekwonu in the building in this scenario for the New York Jets, there isn’t much left to do in terms of reloading the offensive line. A day three pick at the position will add some depth though, and it’s worth it in a deeper class on the interior.

Justin Shaffer was a part of a Georgia offensive line that dominated up front all season long, and his performance was pretty underrated. He can be a very good guard at the next level. Shaffer plays with violent hands, picks up stunts aggressively, and can road grade in the run game. There’s a chance he earns a starting spot at some point during the season.

Round 5, 162nd Overall: Tyler Allgeier, RB, BYU

Yes, Michael Carter played some great football as the shifty scatback in 2021, but let’s add some more power to make a well-rounded room at running back.

Tyler Allgeier falling to here is way too good of value to pass up, and the fit is excellent. Allgeier can thrive in an outside zone scheme because of his one cut and go style, along with his vision and quick processing skills. Allgeier packs a punch at contact and drops the pads well, and adds some burst in open space as well.
