New York Jets 7-Round 2022 Mock Draft: Helping Zach Wilson Round 1
Round 2, 35th Overall: Daxton Hill, S, Michigan
After getting help on offense in round one, the focus shifts to the defensive side of the ball in round two for the New York Jets. Maye’s injury creates some complications regarding an extension, and a big time need emerges.
The safety class has some big names to watch, and Daxton Hill is one of them, who is the pick here at 35. Hill is a phenomenal athlete who has excelled all over the Michigan defense, from working in the slot to working in half-field coverage. He transitions well, processes well, and has been better at the catch point breaking up passes. Hill will be a fun move piece in Saleh’s defense.
Round 2, 38th Overall: Arnold Ebiketie, EDGE, Penn State
Now to beef up the edge rushers. Lawson should return to make an impact in 2022, and John Franklin-Myers should be a good piece moving forward, but the group needs some more juice. Enter Arnold Ebiketie, who is a good player in a phenomenal draft class.
Ebiketie transferred from Temple to Penn State and put together a good year for the Nittany Lions in 2021. He’s got the burst and change of direction skills in the short area to threaten outside and inside, and his rush moves are there at the point of contact. Ebiketie also plays the run well and should make a major impact in year one.
